Description
New! From the makers of ABDI...Comes...
3-dimensional art!
Woo!
Well, I started modeling/animating in 3d with Maya just a little bit in Animation class around September of 2007, and I bought Maya 2008 this January. This is my first attempt at making anything particularly realistic. Very simple, but I like how it turned out.
For now I have to use stencils to get accurate shapes, but I'm getting better at freehanding things >_>
Critiques are accepted, appreciated, and wanted, other than this: I purposely left out the U.S.A. below the Fiskars logo because A) I don't think they say U.S.A. elsewhere in the world and B) I'm lazy.
Reference Picture: [link]
Modeled in Maya 2008
Roughly 4 hours, mainly because I spend so much time screwing around (I modeled the letters instead of using the text feature. Wtf is that Fiskars text, anyway?). I should try speed-modeling this for practice sometime. Yeah, I'm slow.
Rendered using Mental Ray (which I have no idea how to use; I just clicked it to see what would happen )

Not bad!
Turned out nice and smooth!
Heh, and when it comes to mentalRay:
When i was still using 3dsmax (for many years), i didnt get the hang of mentalRay.
When i moved to Maya (2, maybe 3 years ago), i didnt get the hang of it either... at FIRST!
Once you get into it, you´ll see its not as complicated as it looks, and you will never give it away for anything else...
(except PiXAR´s PhotoRealistic RenderMan HAHA!)
